Our investigators generally conduct surveillance, at the claimant’s reported address, over a two-day period to increase the chances of observing the claimant in some type of activity. When the claimant becomes active, our policy is to document the activity with videotape coverage and to stay with the individual until he or she becomes inactive. Any significant inconsistencies regarding the claimant’s reported physical limitations are reported to the claims handler immediately.

• Special Investigations Unit (SUI) Functions
  We have the ability to conduct Special Investigation Unit (SIU) functions in the state of Maine, including mandatory training of staff and reporting of suspected fraudulent claims to the Department of Insurance.
  
  
• Statement Taking and Interviews
  This investigation involves an in-depth inquiry into the claimant’s employment and personal history.  The interview also covers the claimant’s hobbies, current treating physicians and extent of the present disability.  The most detailed portion of the investigation involves questioning the claimant and witnesses with respect to the physical aspects of the job duties and the exact details and circumstances surrounding the injury.

• Locating and interviewing Witnesses
  We are experienced in locating and interviewing critical witnesses. We understand the reluctance some witnesses feel, though we have proven our ability to encourage witness to attest to the truth.
